After A Tragic Death, Father Takes Late Son’s Grieving Girlfriend To Prom And We’re Crying

We all know that death is a part and parcel of our lives. But it’s very difficult to cope with it and move on to normalcy. Some take days, weeks, months or even years to grieve their loved one’s demise and yet are emotionally stricken with the slightest hint of their memory. However, one family from Pennsylvania shared the grief of their son’s passing with his girlfriend in the most heartwarming way possible, while honouring his memory as well.

According to The Indian Express, Robert Brown took his late son’s girlfriend, Kaylee Suders to prom and even took silly pictures with each other to make the occasion even more memorable. Robert’s wife, Kelly said,

“Add this to the list of reasons why I love my husband. Since Carter couldn’t escort Kaylee to her prom, Robert stepped in. Kaylee, I know Rob wasn’t your first choice for a date, but he will forever be mine.”

Robert Brown’s son, Carter Brown had passed away in a tragic car accident weeks before James Buchanan High School’s prom. The family was grief-stricken, but so was Kaylee. However, Robert took the principal’s permission and took her to prom. That’s truly the bravest way of embracing one’s past and present.

Kaylee had made up her mind to skip prom. However, once Robert approached her, she was touched and promptly chose a gown for herself and a tuxedo for Robert.

“I was kind of surprised before he asked me, and it was really, really heartwarming. I didn’t have to think about it. I definitely said ‘yes.’ It was so great of him to ask me.”

It wasn’t just a preparation for prom, but a healing process for the family. And as for Kaylee, seeing her smile was Robert’s top-most priority.

“My son would’ve wanted her to go. So I said, ‘I know Carter’s not here to take you, but maybe I could be the next best thing.’ She got teary-eyed and gave me a big hug.”

They look so cute posing in the photos and dancing with each other. This is too adorable to handle.
