Fake IPS Officer Seeks Free Favors & Car For Sight-Seeing From Karnataka Inspector, Gets Busted By Real Cops

The aspiration to become an IAS or an IPS officer can make people go beyond their limits. No, we are not just talking about working hard limitlessly to clear the civil services examinations. But people nowadays rather opt to take shortcuts and fulfill their dreams of enjoying the perks of being an officer.

Remember the Noida con-woman who hoodwinked the cops as an IFS officer to get VIP security and made them salute her for months?

A similar case has come to light in Karnataka, where a self-proclaimed IPS officer from Chitradurga fooled police, society and even family for months. Dileep lied to his family about clearing civil services exams and used to introduce himself as a probationary IPS officer from batch 2017.

In order to make his con-game look realistic, he also gave an advertisement in a newspaper declaring that he has cleared the civil service exam and has been appointed as an IPS officer. Many private organizations approached him to honor and felicitate him. The publicity gave a boost to the intentions of the ‘wannabe IPS officer’ and hence he decided to up his game by trying to fool police officers.

Dileep visited KR Puram police station and posed as an IPS officer before inspector Narayan Swamy. He told him that he was in the city for a holiday and asked him to arrange a Toyota Innova for sightseeing. The inspector agreed and also offered to bear all the expenses, reports Bengaluru Mirror.

The inspector got suspicious about Dileep’s intentions when he started demanding cars for his personal purposes frequently. He asked the cops to dig into his background and to their surprise, they found that there was no such IPS from batch 2017 named Dileep on the list and he was trying to fool them.

The inspector then sent a car to bring Dileep to the police station and the cops interrogated him making him confess his fraud.

With the increasing number of cases of such frauds, quite necessary to keep a check on imposters who pull the wool over society’s eyes. We wonder where the world is heading!
