Woman Throws Fake Funeral, Pretends To Be Dead, Forces Family To Mourn Just For ‘Rehearsal’

As bizarre as a ‘fake funeral’ sounds, many people have actually gone all the way to throw themselves or others one for various reasons. For instance, a girlfriend hosted a fake funeral of her cheating boyfriend to make his mistress think that he died, or how a guy threw his boyfriend a ‘surprise funeral’ on his birthday so he can hear why his friends loved him.

As per a report in Times Now, a 59-year-old woman named Mayra Alonzo from the Dominican Republic threw a mock funeral and ‘rehearsed’ for death by lying in a rented coffin for hours, and inviting her loved ones to ‘mourn’ her fake death.

She arrived at the location in a hearse before lying down in the coffin. She was dressed in a white gown paired with a floral tiara. She even stuffed her nostrils with cotton to replicate the look of a corpse.

She staged the gathering in Santiago as she was desperate to know what her funeral would look like, News18 reports.

Her friends and family also took part in the full-dress rehearsal, bidding their tearful goodbyes through fake crying.

However, some of them couldn’t pretend for long and started smiling and clicking pictures through their phones.

All her guests were treated to food and drinks, while they exchanged stories about her. The cost of the gathering rehearsal amounted to $1,000 (Rs. 73,000 approx.)

Mayra called the event a “dream come true” and thanked all her friends, family, and neighbors who helped organize it. She added that even if she dies tomorrow, no one should do anything for her as she had already done “it all”.

Would you ever dare to throw your own ‘fake funeral’ out of curiosity?
