This Is Exactly How ATM Frauds Are Carried Out In India

We stumbled upon this video where a policeman explains one of the often used ATM card info stealing techniques. The instructions are in Marathi, so here’s the transcript of the video in English

“A suspicious device has been found which was placed here (points at the place where you insert the ATM card). Some type of adhesive was used to stick it there.  When a person inserts the card the machine copies the card without the knowledge of the person. (Holding the camera) This is a small portable camera with inbuilt battery. It was positioned above the area where you enter the PIN using adhesive to record the PIN as it’s entered. The camera has a pen drive to record the PIN while it’s entered.  A lady noticed this setup while she was using the ATM machine after the camera fell down. (Pointing at the place where you insert the ATM card) There should be a light over here but if you look carefully the device placed over there it has no such light. While using the ATM machine one should make sure there is a light at the place where you insert the ATM card and there are no cameras on the machine.”
