Ex-BSF Jawan Who Complained About Food Is Contesting Elections Against PM Modi In Varanasi

The BSF or Border Security Force is India’s first line of defence against terrorists. They guard the nation’s border with their life. So, it is only natural to think that they would be given proper amenities at their posts, right?

But in 2017, BSF Jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav took to Facebook to share videos of food served to the forces in Kashmir. He alleged that it was of substandard quality.

According to the Indian Express, following his allegations, he was dismissed from service on charges on ‘indiscipline’. His plea for voluntary retirement was also rejected.

The ex-jawan will now contest the Lok Sabha polls from the constituency of Varanasi as an independent candidate. This will put him in direct competition with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, he explained the reason for his decision saying,

“My motive is not to win or lose. It is to highlight how this government has failed the forces, especially paramilitary forces. PM Modi seeks votes in the name of our jawans but has done nothing for them. Our paramilitary jawans (CRPF men) killed recently in Pulwama were not even given martyr status by this government.”

Mr. Yadav will soon campaign in Varanasi and talk about the corruption prevalent in the armed forces. He says that the elections will be a face-off between one asli and one nakli chowkidaar. The final decision, as always, lies in the hands of the voters.
