In the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in London, team Italy lifted their 2nd European Championship trophy after defeating England 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out. The match had ended 1-1 after extra time, and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two penalties in a row to take his team to the title.
As per a report in HT, this is the first major international trophy that Italy has won since their 2006 FIFA World Cup win. On the other hand, England was eyeing their first major international football title and first European Championship trophy since winning the FIFA World Cup at home back in 1966.
