The Emmys is a night that the cast and crew of every TV show looks forward to. It’s attended by the who’s who of the entertainment industry and watched by millions of fans who wants their favourite show to win. This year, the award show belonged to ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Americans’ and ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’. But, the one who won everyone’s hearts was Glenn Weiss.
Glenn Weiss was awarded the Emmy for helming the 90th Academy Awards and he took that moment to remember his mother who had passed away recently. However, Weiss’ speech took a romantic turn and it surprised all.
“Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things, and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine. You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend — because I want to call you my wife.”
Glenn had met Jan Svendsen in 2001 and they have been together since. And he took this occasion to take their relationship to the next level. I guess Jan’s reaction says it all.
And of course she yes!

It all does look like a fairy-tale but in reality, there’s always a chance where somebody else took the award, even at the last moment (‘La La Land’ and ‘Moonlight’). What would he have done then? Glenn said,
“To be honest with you, there was no plan B. If this didn’t happen exactly in this way, something else equally big and surprising would’ve happened.”
But since everything went as expected, Glenn said that he and Jan are going to hit more parties and celebrate tonight. And they absolutely should.
Congrats to Glenn and Jan for beginning a new chapter and we hope they’ve a happy life ahead.
