“I love that I am trans.” Discarding binary labels, Oscar-nominated actor Ellen Page came out as transgender, introducing himself as Elliot Page on social media. The 33-year-old actor from Nova Scotia said he made the decision after a long journey and thanked the LGBTQ community for their support.

In a huge milestone for a Hollywood star, the performer also thanked supporters for helping him on his journey to “finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.” The ‘Juno’ actor further wrote. “I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”
