We usually tend to associate upper and middle-class communities to be English-speaking in our country. However, in certain nooks and corners of the country, there are hidden gems who are giving education another shot, like the 105-year-old granny from Kerala who recently passed the 4th standard exam!
Another such hidden gem is Bhawani Devi, who is the internet’s new icon with her English-speaking abilities. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Bhawani Devi, a ‘desi dadi’, speaks about Mahatma Gandhi in fluent English.
In a video that has gone viral, she is seen donned in a white shirt and a red saree. She goes on to describe Mahatma Gandhi as the “father of the nation” and talks about how he loved everyone equally.

According to News18, people on the internet are tagging ace English ‘guru’ Shashi Tharoor in the video and are calling Bhawani Devi a “tight competition”. Have a look!

If I had half the enthusiasm and memory while learning about historically-significant figures back in my school days, I wouldn’t have been so hopeless in History!
