Dutee Chand, the name that was once unknown is now one of the most respected in the world. The Indian professional sprinter, 100m record holder, winner of two silver medals in the Asian Games 2018, Chand has made it big in just a matter of two years. In July, she became the first Indian sprinter to win the 100-m at the World University Games. Among the many accolades that she has in her kitty, her latest feat is making everyone beam with pride.
Chand has been included in the first-ever list of ‘TIME 100 Next’ by TIME magazine. The list is an expansion of the ‘TIME 100 list’ of the most influential people in the world. It highlights 100 rising stars who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism, and more reports India Today.

She even shared the good news with her fans through social media. In an official statement, she said:
“I am delighted to receive this recognition from the TIME. I believe in gender equality. I will continue to fight for the rights of young girls and women in sports as well as in the larger society.”

Dutee has time and again faced the odds and even faced backlash after she opened up about her same-sex relationship. But all this didn’t deter her from becoming the world’s number one. Chand is now preparing to make her second Olympic appearance in Tokyo, in 2020. All the best, Dutee!
