As per a report in Reuters, on a high-flying drone dropped hundreds of small packets of what looked like free cannabis over the main square of Tel Aviv in Israel on September 3, 2020. The incident happened following activists seeking to legalize the drug in their country. Currently, only medicinal use of cannabis is permitted there, and recreational use is deemed illegal, but largely decriminalized. Check out the video of the incident below:-

In the video, we can see pedestrians walking through traffic and picking up some of the baggies that had fallen on the road before the Israeli police arrived. In a statement, the police said that they managed to recover dozens of these tiny packets as they suspected it to be filled with “a dangerous drug”.

This incident comes after the Green Drone pro-legalization group posted a message earlier on their Telegram web messaging channel saying, “The time has come. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the Green Drone sending you free cannabis from the skies.”

News18 reports that the police have reportedly arrested two men who had operated the quadcopter and flew it over Rabin Square, which is a site that often hosts various street protests and other political rallies.

Previously in May, the Israel government had approved exports of medical cannabis seeking to produce millions of dollars in revenue after paving the way for sales abroad.
