90s Kids Rejoice! Doordarshan Plans To Launch Its Own Online Streaming Platform

Sitting glued to your TV sets watching 90’s classic shows like Bharat Ek Khoj, Fauji, Malgudi Days, Dekh Bhai Dekh among others may be a thing of past now. But if things fall in place for Doordarshan you will certainly get to live those exciting days of sheer entertainment and bliss once again. DD which boasted an audience of all age groups and socio-economic background in ’80s and ’90s is planning a massive comeback.

Streaming giants Netflix, Amazon Prime, Voot, Hotstar among others which have gained popularity over the past few years, now need to buck up as DD is planning to come up with its own OTT platform.

“Doordarshan is also planning to have its own digital platform where it can put out its content which can be available worldwide. CEOs of Prasar Bharati and Doordarshan are working on a project to evolve an online platform for the viewers,” said Supriya Sahu, director-general, Doordarshan as reported in The Hindu.

DD also reran some of its premium content a couple of years back. The immense positive response that the channel received was enough to prove that the shows were still high in demand. Hence, the broadcaster is now planning to make a large part of its super entertaining content available for the viewers to watch as per their convenience.
