Ahead of the November 3 polls in the United States, President Donald Trump, and Joe Biden participated in the final presidential debate yesterday. According to NDTV, when the President was talking about the climate crisis and his decision to pull out of the 2015 Paris climate agreement he said,
“Look at China, how filthy it is. Look at Russia. Look at India. The air is filthy. I walked out of the Paris Accord as we had to take out trillions of dollars and we were treated very unfairly. I will not sacrifice millions of jobs… thousands of companies because of the Paris Accord. It is very unfair.”

Many people expressed their displeasure with his remarks and pointed out that it was the USA that pulled out of the global agreement despite being a bigger polluter of the environment than India.
@realDonaldTrump: Look at India. It’s filthy.

Another flattering mention of India by Donald Trump calling it “filthy” alongside China and Russia on climate change and air pollution. #Debates2020

India has done more than all countries put together for cleaning the environment and for ‘climate justice’. International Solar Alliance is just one example. Dear @realDonaldTrump, India is not filthy nor is it irresponsible on climate change.

Hello Mr. @realDonaldTrump Look How Filthy India is and India Is Responsible for all the Pollution that's why India stands Nowhere close to US in this list. What an unfortunate comment to make about India, @realDonaldTrump .
Reminder: India stands committed to climate change goals, US chose to withdraw, much against the wishes of many Americans. Thank you.— Priyanka Chaturvedi (@priyankac19) October 23, 2020
While others admitted that factually, the air quality in certain Indian cities is hazardous right now and we should spend our time rectifying the situation rather than expressing outrage.
Our air IS filthy. Every year about 15 of the 20 cities with the filthiest air in the world are in India. We’ve also done little to address this, except pass the buck around. No point being outraged when Donald Trump speaks that truth. Our air is an awful global embarrassment
