She Wanted Sex So I Killed Her: 16-Year-Old Confesses To Killing His Delhi Employer

Indian households are no stranger to having a domestic help around the house to extend a little assistance with the daily chores. However, that does not entail that the domestic help should be exploited in any way. That being said, if a domestic help is exploited, they should approach law enforcement rather than taking matters into their own hands.

In a distressing incident in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, a teenage boy approached a police station in Sahidabad and confessed that he had murdered his employer. But the reason for this crime was something apart from greed or money, and it will pain you to hear it.

The 16-year-old had been working as a domestic help for the household after they picked him up from New Delhi railway station around 15 months ago, where he was looking for work. The boy confessed that the woman, Anita, would often pressurise him to engage in physical relations with her.

He also said that in an attempt to avoid her propositions, he had threatened to kill her on earlier occasions but that did not deter the woman. She threatened the boy that she will lodge a sexual assault case against him if he does not establish sexual relations with her.

When he could not take it anymore, the boy entered the room where the woman was watching TV alone on Wednesday night, grabbed her by the neck and slit her throat with a kitchen knife. Police said that the boy felt guilty after the murder and surrendered himself to the police.

Shortly after, the police reached Sangam Apartments along with the boy, where the woman was killed. Anup Singh, Circle Officer-4, Sahibabad told DNA,

“She was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood. There was no one at home, apart from her two-and-a-half-year old daughter who was found sleeping in the bedroom.”

The police further added that the boy’s hands and clothes were soaked with blood and he arrived to the police station in tears. The woman’s husband, Ompal, was at work when the incident occurred.

It can be argued that the act of the boy could have been in self-defence against the harassment meted out to him. However, taking the law into his own hands has complicated the matter as he too, is guilty of a crime now.
