Stray Dogs, Cows Set Loose On Ahmedabad Streets Again As Trump Leaves India

A huge deal was made out of Donald Trump’s visit to India recently with exuberant arrangements been made to give the POTUS an honourable welcome. A wall was built to erase the sight of slums from Trump on his way to the rally. Also, cows and stray dogs were moved elsewhere from the VVIP route so that no “embarrassment” would occur. This decision was made after the US Secretary of State John Kerry’s car hit a mongrel back in 2015 when he was in the country for an event.

However, now that Donald Trump is back to the US, street dogs and cows have graced the streets of Ahmedabad, reports TOI.

Last week, workers had collected 48 cows and buffaloes, and 55 dogs from the area around Motera to the airport – the VVIP route that was travelled by Trump. The policy dictated that the animals were to be returned to the place where they were removed from.

The dogs had been sterilised before releasing them to their old habitat. The cows and buffaloes, however, will be released once their owners pay a fine. This is to prevent cattle owners from letting the animals stray on the roads and causing inconvenience to others.

This is ‘ghar wapsi’ in its true sense!
