Meet Patsy, The Doggo Who Saved A Herd Of Sheep From Australia’s Bushfires

Every year during the dry summer months, Australia witnesses wildfires due to natural causes. However, CNN reports that this year, due to the heatwave (courtesy of global warming), strong winds and instances of deliberate arson by humans, the blazes have become much worse.

According to TIME, the bushfires have burned more than 12 million acres of land, killed at least 24 people and 480 million animals. Amidst all this, one doggo is being hailed as a hero, here’s why.

6-year-old Patsy is a kelpie/border collie cross and a working dog living in Victoria, Australia. On December 31, 2019, Patsy helped her owners (Cath Hill and her brother) round up a herd of sheep as a fire began enveloping their farmland. She herded them to a safe paddock and kept watch as they tried to extinguish the blazes, reports Mail Online.

Metro UK quoted Cath saying,

“It’s like Armageddon. It’s unbelievable and it’s only going to get worse. That’s why we put Patsy’s story out there. People need something positive.”

Here is the video she posted on Facebook calling Patsy a “little champion”.

People are heaping praises on the “Wonderdog” for averting a potential tragedy. Take a look.

We hope that the firefighters who’re working round the clock are able to minimize the damage caused by the raging fires.
