Dogs are a man’s best friend and having them is a joy of a different kind. They lift your spirits up when you’re low and they don’t need words to understand your pain. Their puppy dog eyes can melt the coldest of hearts and there’s just no way to say no to them while eating.

It is only understandable then that when 8-year-old Maisy, a St. Bernard, started getting sick, her Dickinson family was distraught at the thought of losing their dog to cancer.

According to Metro.uk, her scans showed that she had a mass in her stomach and the possibility of cancer loomed over them. Maisy was rushed for a spleen removal surgery. However, things weren’t quite the way it seemed.

When the vets operated on her, they found teddy bears in her stomach. She had surprisingly swallowed them and that is what was causing the problem.

The doctors removed the toys using an intricate procedure and Maisy is now recovering well.

The vet said,

“I know Jane was worried about Maisy as she is quite old for a St Bernard, so we were naturally delighted the operation was such a success and we were able to return a happy, healthy dog to the Dickinsons”

I can only imagine what it’s like to lose a dog because they’re not just your pet, they are your best friend, your companion, your cheerleader. So it is really wonderful to know the Dickinsons didn’t have to lose their pupper and she has a long way ahead.
