Meet Kazuza, The Doggo Who BASE-Jumped Off 2300-Foot Cliff With His Hooman

We’ve seen pet dogs being trained to ‘communicate’ by pressing word buttons on a panel and we’ve also seen them single-handedly running stores in Japan. But have you seen one that gets an adrenaline rush from extreme sports?

According to NY Post, 38-year-old Bruno Valente and his doggo, a six-year-old border collie named Kazuza love BASE-jumping (building, antenna, span, and earth) together.

Check them out leaping from the ledge of a 2,300-foot-high cliff in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland, and high-fiving after parachuting back to the ground.

Mail Online quoted Mr. Valente explaining how it all began,

“The only time I didn’t spend with (Kazuza) at the beginning was when I started to base jump. A bunch of times I couldn’t jump as I had nobody to take care of him, so that’s when the idea came. I found a harness – super safe – and I tried to see his reaction when I put it on and went to the ledge. He seemed pretty comfortable. Since then we jump together – he has done around 40-something jumps with me.”

33-year-old Jokke Sommer who recorded the video added,

“Kazuza has done many jumps – he’s the luckiest dog in the world. He’s very well trained and has a lot of trust in Bruno. The moment when he sees all parachutes, he makes a lot of noise and looks really excited. But he has fears too, of course. You can see when he’s looking over the edge he’s thinking: ‘This one is huge!’ You can see that he’s reacting to it – but he’s not fighting against it.”

Needless to say, since BASE-jumping is one of the most dangerous activities in the world, we shouldn’t try this at home. A fair amount of time and training by experts is required before attempting the same.
