‘Politicians Call Docs At Their Residence’: Medics Slam VIP Culture In Letter To PM Modi

The pandemic has been hard for all of us. But it has been particularly trying for medical professionals on the frontline who have been working day in and day out to keep the virus at bay. They’ve been working long hours in PPE kits without taking any personal vacations.

Amid all this, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written to PM Narendra Modi citing the VIP culture in government hospitals. In the letter, they have thrown light on the fact that doctors are frequently called to politicians’ homes for testing and treatment, reports TOI.

Furthermore, they have said that even when they themselves get infected “priority is given to politicians and their party workers who have actually held rallies and increased the spread of the virus.”

“Central government hospitals have VIP counters for testing, allowing all party workers of politicians and ministries to get themselves tested but doctors have no separate counters for testing.”

We hope the government does the needful in the matter.
