The Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College in Jaipur, Rajasthan played host to a shocking case on June 1, 2019. In a video going viral, a male doctor at the hospital can be seen brutally beating up a patient, lying on his bed.
The patient has been identified as Mubarik, a 30-year-old from Uttar Pradesh, who is currently residing in Chandpole area in Jaipur. He was admitted to the SMS hospital on June 1 itself for a type of poisoning with gastritis.
However, according to Outlook, Mubarik turned violent and started manhandling a female doctor. When a male doctor and Mubarik’s family tried to calm him down, he started to attack the people present there, physically. With no choice left, the male doctor then started to slap Mubarik to bring the situation under control.
While this is how the hospital authorities have described the episode, the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission sought a report on the matter from the hospital administration by June 25.
