Books have always been my solace, even more so during the lockdown period when we’re all stuck at home. Having said that, we have seen really bizarre things done to books during the pandemic. For example, people were found microwaving their books to combat coronavirus, much to the distress of the libraries from which they were borrowed.
Now, a new DIY book trend has surfaced that is bound to leave every book lover confused and heartbroken.
A Twitter user named Ryan Hammond, who is a designer at HarperCollins tweeted a video of an odd DIY decor hack to show off your book collection. Bibliophiles, you might want to close your eyes for this one. Check out the video below:-
Help. Have just come across this horror on TikTok and had to share with all of you book people because a little bit of me died inside pic.twitter.com/Zj6eH4qXGG

In the clip, we initially see the person coating the book covers with either black or white-colored paint and varnishing them. For the final product, the creator paints the logos of various high-end brands like Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton on the spines of those books. In the end, the books are piled on top of each other on a shelf, alternating the black and white-colored books.
Needless to say, most people on Twitter were left completely vexed with the viral hack. Here are some of the reactions:-
