Director Shares How Pankaj Tripathi Is Extremely Humble Despite Being At The Peak Of His Career

A stellar actor, a feminist ally, and a man grounded in his roots – these are the first things that pop up in my head whenever I think of Pankaj Tripathi. In an industry which reeks of elitism and is all about the glitz and the glamour, Pankaj Tripathi is that rare gem who reminds us that life is much more than fame and money.

Abhiroop Basu, who is the director of the film ‘Laali’, took to social media to share a heartwarming post about Pankaj Tripathi. In a picture posted along with a beautiful caption, Pankaj Sir can be seen sitting on a chair, in the middle of the road, wearing a lungi and kurta, with a water bottle placed on the side. This is an actor who is at the peak of his career.

“At the peak of his career, Pankaj Tripathi shot Laali in Calcutta for three days in the absence of any vanity van or spot boys specially dedicated to him or any special kind of arrangement or luxury we usually associate with stars. He ate the food we ate, he went back to his hotel when we did. If a picture could speak a thousand words, here you go.. just an actor sitting on a wooden chair out on the open streets, with his bottle of water.. nonchalantly speaking over the phone, waiting for the next shot,” Basu wrote.

It is from people like Pankaj Sir that we learn how to live with humility, Basu adds. He writes:

“No two ways about it, working with him was a life-changing experience for we got a chance to learn way beyond the craft.. we learnt about life and how to keep our feet rooted to the ground always.. and that will teach you about films way more than any film school ever can.”
