After Dia Mirza, Dino Morea Says Filmmakers Don’t Cast Him Because Of His Good Looks

In an earlier interview, actor Dia Mirza had claimed that she lost out on many projects because of her good looks. “The way I look has been a disadvantage for me in my acting profession many times,” she had said. And a lot of people wondered, is that even a thing in Bollywood? After all, aren’t actors chosen for their looks as well as their acting talent?

Turns out, it is in fact a thing in the Hindi Film industry. Actor Dino Morea, who made his acting debut with Raaz two decades back, alleged that his good looks have worked “against” him in Bollywood.

Hindustan Times quoted him saying:

“It takes guts to see me differently. Some casting directors come up with the excuse and they don’t see me differently. I just get feedback from some that you are good looking. I find it very bizarre, what’s my look got to do with casting me in a certain character. Just cast me. I can change my look. People just never saw me beyond my looks. Being good looking sometimes works against you in Bollywood.”

He further added that the entire industry runs after some “12 actors”. He said:

“Out of them a few of them will guarantee you seat in the cinemas but the others are just projection. A good movie will work. I am just hoping that producers will just back good stories and not who’s in it. I also want to work with the best directors.”
