Monday was a day of double celebration for cricket fans. It was the anniversary of India’s stunning World Cup victory in 2011. And it was also the day when the man whose finishing shot won us the Cup would receive the third-highest civilian honour of the country.
On April 2, Monday, former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was awarded the Padma Bhushan at the hands of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.

Dhoni was amongst several other Padma awardees, including champion billiards player Pankaj Advani. The former captain was accompanied by his wife, the every bit beaming with pride, Sakshi.
For this honourable occasion, M S Dhoni was not just a regular civilian. The whole country laid eyes on Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Singh Dhoni of 106 Para TA Batallion, clad in his Territorial Army uniform, marching towards the dais to receive the honour.

What made this moment of pride even sweeter was the fact that this honour was being conferred upon Dhoni on the anniversary of his winning World Cup shot! And Twitter just couldn’t get over this glorious coincidence!
These things work in mysterious ways, don’t they? How beautifully it all fell into place!
