Dharmendra Posts Emotional Tweet For Siraj Who Played For India Despite Father’s Demise

The Border-Gavaskar series has probably been the most emotionally draining cricketing tournament in the career of Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj. While the racial abuse faced by him and Jasprit Bumrah only made them stronger, the thought of his late father made Siraj shed tears right on the cricket ground.

Siraj’s father passed away in November 2020 due to a lung ailment. Hence, when he was given the opportunity to choose whether he wanted to continue playing for India or leave to attend his father’s final rites; he decided to stay for his country.

This dedication and passion earned him a lot of respect from people across the globe. And among them was veteran actor Dharmendra Deol.

Taking to Twitter, the ‘Sholay’ actor patted his back for keeping his trauma aside and playing like a true warrior for his squad. Calling him ‘Braveheart son of India’, he wrote:

This roughly translates to:

Siraj, Braveheart son of India Love you. I am so proud of you. You carried the pain of your father’s demise in your heart and played for the glory of the country and registered an unexpected victory for the nation. It made my heart heavy to see you at your father’s grave yesterday. May he be welcomed into heaven.

It’s really difficult to even imagine what he was going through. We are blessed to have people like Siraj representing our nation and making us proud.
