Like any other Indian festival, Deepawali also comes with its own set of traditions. Dhantrayodashi or Dhanteras is the day we worship Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, with a pooja and light clay lamps to get rid of darkness and evil. It is also considered auspicious to buy new things and bring them into the home today. Many opt for gold coins and jewellery which has sparked some hilarious memes online.

People have also unofficially christened this festival as ‘Bappi Lahiri Diwas’ given the singer’s propensity to wear multiple gold chains and rings. Some even suggested that he should be named the Brand Ambassador of Dhanteras.
