Since time immemorial, Bollywood has tried to convince audiences that there are no other stories in the world other than a love story. And not just any love story. It has to be a boy who falls in love with a girl and are separated due to communal differences and then bhaag ke shaadi, the whole nine yards. And going by the looks of it, ‘Dhadak‘ is unfortunately no different.
‘Dhadak‘ has a lot of potential in it. It’s a remake of the beloved ‘Sairat‘. Then it has the fresh faces of Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor. And it has the holy banner of Dharma Productions. However, when all that came together in its trailer, people were left disappointed. From calling it a bad rehash to crying ‘nepotism’, ‘Dhadak‘ was trolled hard.
Here are some of the best digs on the ‘Dhadak’ trailer:
1. That’s the most apt comparison.
Regional cinema is soulful, it captures the dialect & earthen humor so well. A Bollywood remake is almost a parody by ham actors and a khichdi of local dialect and Hindi. #Sairat vs #Dhadak is #Reebok vs #Reebook

3. Every B’wood meeting ever.
Karan Johar : movie bana lo
Director : kaise?
K Jo : star kids, good costumes, great location, script utha lenge koi purani
Director : acting?
K Jo : woh next movie mein dekhenge#Dhadak— Pakchikpak Raja Babu (@HaramiParindey) June 11, 2018
4. Seriously though.

6. Deja Vu.
Just watched #DhadakTrailer. Thrilling. A boy & girl fall in love.. Boy is poor & girl's family is rich & dangerous.. boy is tortured.. then he fights back.. and then probably a happy ending. It's amazing how Karan Johar sahab keeps coming with fresh/new ideas & plot. Can't wait

I’m sure both Ishaan and Janhvi have acted their hearts out and Shashank Khaitan has given it his all. And I’m also sure the songs will be great and the production design will be amazing. But is that all what Indian cinema is capable doing? Isn’t it time to move on from the template we’ve been using for the past four decades and do something different?
