After Reliance Refuses To Fund Education, Developer Sells ‘JioHotstar’ Domain To Dubai Siblings

The saga of the domain name “JioHotstar.com” has turned into quite the drama. It started when a Delhi-based app developer bought the domain in 2023, then posted an open letter online, asking Reliance Industries to sponsor his higher studies at Cambridge University in exchange for giving up the domain. But Reliance didn’t play along – they declined the offer and, instead, opted to pursue legal action against the developer.

Yet, this story took an unexpected twist over the weekend. The domain “JioHotstar.com” is now under the ownership of two young siblings from Dubai – 13-year-old Jainam Jain and 10-year-old Jivika Jain.

These siblings, known for their educational initiative that helps underprivileged kids, have repurposed the domain to share their experiences and spread positivity, reported Business Today.

Visitors to the website now land on a heartfelt message from Jainam and Jivika. They explain how they spent their summer holiday in India, travelling for 50 days to connect with communities and spread goodwill. They even received small donations, gifts, and blessings from people along the way, which they collected for their educational cause. When they returned to Dubai, they decided to use a portion of these donations to buy “JioHotstar.com” from the developer, aiming to support his goals and promote their mission of kindness, as per TOI.

This move, which no one saw coming, has won the hearts of several people online. Here’s how they reacted to the incident:

Reliance Industries has yet to respond publicly to the transfer of “JioHotstar.com” and whether they’ll attempt to buy it back remains uncertain. But for now, it’s clear that the domain’s journey is an inspiring one!
