In today’s digital age, top professionals often find themselves flooded with job applications, all sent with a simple click. Standing out in such a crowded inbox requires more than just an impressive resume. It calls for a creative touch.
One aspiring designer recently chose an “old-school” approach to get noticed by Swiggy’s Assistant Vice President of Design, Saptarshi Prakash, by sending a physical letter.
Prakash shared pictures of the letter on X and said that it caught his eye. The designer’s letter wasn’t just about a job application. He presented a concept aimed at enhancing Swiggy’s user experience. The applicant expressed genuine enthusiasm and wrote, “I would love to have the opportunity to present it to you and the team… What I am truly hoping for is a single opportunity to express myself and showcase my work.”
Though Swiggy currently doesn’t have any openings for UX/UI roles, Prakash was so intrigued by the designer’s approach that he invited them to share their ideas via email. He also encouraged others to connect this creative applicant to relevant design job openings.
Have a look:
Received a physical letter from a designer wanting to join @Swiggy with a concept. In a digital age, this old-school approach stood out
To the sender: We may not have a role now, but please email me—I’d love to see your idea! 😄

In this age , anyone using a paper of any form and a physical medium itself is refreshing . Bookmark Karlo 😜

This designer can think of alternative ways that are actually outside the box, if Swiggy does contractual projects and can onboard him for any – that would be a wonderful story indeed.

Would have been much better if handwritten. 🍀
If not, would have chosen serif typeface. 🙂— T.T.TRINKUSH (@tttrinkush) October 30, 2024
love it

Sometimes, thinking outside the inbox can make all the difference.
