‘Sorry’ seems like a word that doesn’t exist in a desi parent’s dictionary. Don’t believe me? Hear me out. Last night my dad yelled at me because he forgot to pay the online bill. And, then when I gently reminded him that he was supposed to do it, he excused himself saying, ‘Toh tu phone pe pura din kya karti hai?” Well, no matter what the reason is, seems like my parents ALWAYS find a reason to blame me or in some (rare) cases apologize to me indirectly.
Speaking of which, a twitter user by the handle @hoorulaiin recently dared to ask people to apologize like brown parents online. And, honestly, the answers are relatable AF. From ‘khana kha le’ to ‘tera kuch nai ho sakta’, have a look at some of the most sincere apologies by our dear parents.
