Husband Leaves Keys In The Car, Robbers Drive Off With His Wife In Punjab’s Dera Bassi

In a shocking incident, two carjackers stole a man’s car in Punjab and drove away with his wife. The incident happened near Sukhmani School in Dera Bassi on Thursday as the man left his keys in the car.

The man named Rajeev Chand and his wife Ritu, who lived in Dhandrala village, had arrived at Sukhmani School in Dera Bassi to deposit their children’s school fee at around 1 PM on Thursday. Rajeev, who has a private job, went inside the school leaving his car keys still inside the Tata Tiago car, while Ritu also stayed back waiting in the vehicle, India Today reports.

After a while, two robbers snatched open the car doors and sat inside the car. One of them sat on the driver’s seat, while the other sat with Ritu and covered her mouth and hands to stop her from raising an alarm.

As per Ritu’s account, the carjackers drove off towards the national highway for around 5 km, and dumped her near the Ambala Toll Plaza after taking a U-turn, and ultimately fled towards Dera Bassi.

As per a report in HT, Satinder Singh, who is the station house officer of Dera Bassi stated, “We have initiated a probe after registering a case against the unidentified accused. We are checking the CCTV footage of the toll plaza and are hopeful of arresting the robbers soon.”
