Delhiites Tweet Visuals Of Clear Blue Skies As City Air Becomes ‘Cleanest’ In 5 Years

Our national capital New Delhi has often been in the news for its deteriorating air quality. Just last year, its air quality index (AQI) crossed the 500 mark and earned it the top spot in the list of the most polluted cities in the world.

However, just when we thought the pandemic is ruining everything, we received a great piece of news. According to Times Now, people of Delhi breathed the cleanest air in more than five years on Aug 31. The AQI was considerable ‘good’ at 41 and clear blue skies took over the state.

Experts attributed the drop in the air pollution level in Delhi to favourable wind speed and good rains.

Some also opined that the reduced vehicular movement due to the coronavirus lockdown is also one of the important factors.

People online were overjoyed on seeing the Delhi sky this clear reportedly after almost five years. They soon took to Twitter to share the breathtaking visuals.

Take a look:

WOW! Aren’t the pictures spectacular? Let’s just hope the authorities take effective measures to maintain the minimal pollution level even after the lockdown.
