At 6 PM, the crematorium priest, Radhey Shyam, and three other men known to the mother showed her the victim’s body and claimed that she passed away after being electrocuted by the cooler. They even showed her burn marks on the victim’s wrist and her lips had turned blue, reported a senior police official.

HT further reports that the 4 men allegedly told the girl’s mother that the child was “electrocuted to death”, and also “frightened the family off from informing the police” by telling them that the police would register a case and send the body for an autopsy, where doctors will “take out her vital organs and sell them”.

However, on Sunday night, 200 villagers staged a protest. The residents came to know about the incident after the mother raised an alarm about how the girl was cremated without the family’s consent. The villagers allegedly broke down the crematorium gate and protested, demanding the arrest of the accused.

Following the protest and “circumstantial evidence”, the police have registered a case for  rape, murder and criminal intimidation.

This incident has caused a massive outrage online. Protests have broken out in Delhi as well. On Twitter, #JusticeForDelhiCanttGirl started trending as people demanded justice for the victim.

We hope that a thorough investigation is conducted and the guilty are punished!
