The accused in this case is 28-year-old Aftab Ameen Poonawalla and the victim is 26-year-old Shraddha. According to the cops, the incident occurred on May 18 after the couple had a fight. Aftab strangled her, chopped her into pieces, bought a 300-litre fridge to store the pieces and for 18 days, he went out of the house at 2 AM carrying a polybag and dumped the pieces in different places in Mehrauli forest, Delhi, reported TOI.

Shraddha used to work at a call centre for a multinational company and it was there that she met Aftab in Mumbai. The two got entangled in a relationship and soon moved in together. After their families didn’t approve of their relationship, they eloped and moved to a flat in Mehrauli.

The family was alerted of Shraddha’s disappearance after a friend got in touch with her brother and complained that her phone was switched off for 2 months. On November 8, Shraddha’s father, Vikas Madaan Walkar, arrived in Delhi and saw that Shraddha’s flat had a lock. He then complained to the local police and lodged a kidnapping case. Walker, in his complaint, mentioned that Shraddha used to say her partner Aftab often physically assaulted her.

On this basis, Aftab was arrested and interrogated. In his interrogation, he revealed that the two fought frequently. The police went on to find the pieces of Shraddha’s body in the forest, although they are still investigating whether the pieces are that of a human or an animal. The knife with which Aftab, who is a chef by profession, allegedly cut the body is missing.

What a horrific case!
