Delhi Cop’s LIT Rap On Road Safety Goes Viral, Twitter Says, “He’s Got Swag!”

Dedicated to ensuring safer roads in the national capital, a head constable in Delhi traffic police department is using social media to spread awareness and attract the young population.

In a viral video, Sandeep Shahi can be seen rapping his improvised version of the famous song ‘Apna Time Aayega’ from Ranveer Singh’s Movie, Gully boy.

Reportedly, after his wife suffered injuries in a road accident six years ago, Shahi started, appealing to people to sport a helmet and seatbelt and avoid rash driving too.

“I was deeply hurt when my wife suffered injuries in the road accident. Also, I see many young people taking traffic rules very lightly. So, I decided to write this rap, it was the best way to connect with the youth. I came to know about the viral video of my rap song. People are very casual about road safety and are reluctant to follow traffic rules. So, I felt it was my responsibility to make them aware,” he said.

Shahi has left no stone unturned to make people realise the importance of road safety and donning a helmet. He has been gifting the needy authorised helmets to save their life while driving on road.

Till date, he has distributed nearly 700 helmets and also uses placards with messages reflecting the importance of wearing an ISI mark, original and authorised helmet.

Twitter was seen encouraging this gesture of the helmet-man and calling him talented and responsible for using a ‘cool way’ to spread awareness:

It is not just Shahi’s responsibility but is all of ours to make roads safer in India.
