I still remember the Deepika Padukone who walked in to the Bolly-world as Shantipriya with her signature hand waving gesture. Since then we have seen her transform into the diva she is today. Adapting to roles from Naina in Yeh Jawaani Hi Deewani to Rani Padmini in Padmaavat, is there anything DP can’t do?
But we’re not the only people who think so.
Deepika Padukone has been named as one of the‘Most Influential People in the World’ by Time magazine. She is now the only Indian female actor to be featured on the annual list.
Yes, Deepika is slowly becoming a global icon after etching her mark in tinsel town. Also, side note, DP hasn’t let the ‘Namste’ emoji go, I thought it was only a Padmaavat thing, apparently not!
To celebrate this momentous moment, it was her co-star from xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Vin Diesel who was all praises for Deepika. For her feature, he wrote,
“When Deepika Padukone came in to read for one of the Fast and the Furious films, I knew instantly I was in the presence of someone very special.”
The two unfortunately could not work together for Fast and the Furious due to date issues, but Vin said he had her in mind for the next project he would do.
Vin spoke about the star performer DP is and said that she takes commitment very seriously and wants the whole movie to shine.
“Anyone can talk about how beautiful she is and anyone could tell you about her unmatched comedic timing. But she isn’t just a star. She’s an actor’s actor, dedicated to the craft”, wrote a highly impressed Diesel.

As soon as she entered the room, there was a synchronicity, a synergy, a chemistry—it promised great things to come. Her schedule didn’t work for that movie, but I never gave up. She was the first role we cast in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She said, “I want to do this movie, but if I do, you have to come to India.” Thank God I made that deal.
Making that movie, Deepika took committed to a whole other level. That’s who she is as a performer. She wants the whole movie to shine, which is a rare thing. Anyone could talk about how beautiful she is, and anyone could tell you about her unmatched comedic timing. But she isn’t just a star. She’s an actor’s actor, dedicated to the craft.
So often in the entertainment industry we deal in stereotypes, and people get stuck in certain markets. Deepika is the best Earth has to offer. She’s not just here to represent India; she’s here to represent the world.”
Who remembers when Deepika Padukone told Ellen on her show that she wanted to have Vin’s babies. “I think we are together and we have this amazing chemistry. And we live together and we have these amazing babies. But it’s all in my head!”
And who can recall the iconic lungi dance that Deepika did on a talk show with Vin? Our hearts burst out of our chests, didn’t they!?
Their friendship sure has come a long way and we’re just gushing from the side. I mean c’mon guys, it’s not every day that hunky Vin Diesel calls you “the best the Earth has to offer!” ❤
