The Padmaavat star will essay the role of acid attack survivor and activist, Laxmi Agarwal in the film. She is currently shooting for the Meghna Gulzar directorial in Delhi with co-star Vikrant Massey.
Deepika has unrecognizably cloned herself completely into her character of an acid attack victim. Several pictures of the actress from the sets of Chhapaak have been doing rounds on social media lately. To talk about the latest, a video of Deepika and Vikrant shooting for a scene on the streets the national capital has surfaced on the internet.
The video shows Deepika and Vikrant on a bike. He parks the bike roadside in front of a shop and crosses the road, while Deepika is standing near the bike waiting for him to return. The is now going viral on social media.
At the age of 15, Laxmi Agarwal survived an acid attack by three men. She was attacked as she refused to marry one of them. After recovering from the attack mentally and physically, Laxmi began her fight against the sale of acid. She went on to become an international motivational speaker and activist. Also, she was honored with the Women Courage Award by Michelle Obama in 2014.
Deepika has transformed herself into Laxmi from top to toe for Chhapaak. The movie is set to hit the big screens in January 2020.
