The internet often churns an image that makes us go ‘oh God, ye kya hai?’ And that’s when the Sherlock in us starts digging about the thing that just blew our mind. When this Twitter user working with the Indian Forest Service came across a peculiar sight, he decided to share it with his followers.
And that spooky-looking picture of what appears to be of a foot coming out from beneath a log of wood has left people scratching their heads, reported NDTV.
Sharing the picture, Susanta Nanda also asked people to identify the ‘animal’.
Can you identify this animal? pic.twitter.com/6WHc2cidRO

And within hours of sharing it, people flooded his post with their responses. Here’s what some of them said:

While some people were able to identify the creature, many people online couldn’t guess it right. Hence, Susanta volunteered to ease the confusion. According to him, it’s an image of a fungus called ‘Dead Man’s Fingers’ or Xylaria polymorpha. He also attached a link to give us a brief about the bizarre-looking fungus.
Many identified it correctly as their own foot or foot of politicians😊
And some were enlightened. It’s a fungus.https://t.co/ZCX9MbBw6K

People were surprised by his revelation:

And according to the website, the fungus gets its name ‘Dead Man’s Fingers’ because of its dull-looking appearance and it usually ‘arises in tufts of three to six fingers that are often bent and give the impression of arthritic black knuckles.’
Well, this visual made my skin crawl. Were you able to recognise the fungus?
