Man Who Posted A ‘Singles Ad’ For His Lonely Ducking, Just Found Her A Date!

Losing a partner or a BFF is heartbreaking especially when your world revolved around them. It is difficult to decide whether time heals the wound or it just gets more painful with every passing day. And this is how animals also feel when they lose their companion. When this 31-year-old saw his duckling, the ‘Yellow Duck’ missing her mates, he decided to cheer her up.

Chris Morris realised the duckling at his farm was heartbroken when she stopped hanging out with his chickens (like she used to) and started quacking a lot more than usual. He guessed that it was because she recently lost her friends ‘Gray Duck’ and ‘Brown Duck’ to a hungry bobcat, one of which was her mate. To cheer the duckling, the special education teacher decided to find a soulmate for her, reported News18.

He used his creative ‘keda’ and drafted an advertisement for her, kind of the one we are used to reading at matrimonial sites. The ad read:

“Duck seeking duck. Lonesome runner duck seeks a companion. Partner recently deceased, serious replies only.”

The ad also included an email address where interested people can get in touch with the duck. Morris then placed the ad on a community bulletin board at a local grocery store. Talking about his idea to post the ad, Morris said, “We wanted to post about this to try to find a duck, and that just seemed like the best fit.”

Luckily, he was able to find one interested farm owner who was willing to allow Morris to find the perfect match for his duck. Sadie Greene, a 32-year-old Dedham resident who also co-owns “an uncertified organic farm” read Morris’s ad about the duck and contacted him, reported Fox News.

“We have a slew of male ducks, so [Morris] will be able to take his pick,” Greene said. “Ducks are one of the few species that mate for life, so when they lose their partners, they tend to mourn, but they can replace their partners pretty quickly, so it will be interesting to see what happens,” she added.

The two duck owners also decided to arrange a date for their pets so that they get to know each other. “We will try to create a mood, maybe set them up on a date. It is possible they might attack each other. We don’t know. I think we have to provide a private, romantic space for them, something they can share,” Morris said. They also set out the Yellow Duck’s favourite food for date night.

Well, I am more than interested to know whether the ducks quack their way into a happy relationship and say ‘I quack you’ to each other or not. Aren’t you?
