Photographer’s Picture Of Having Sex Atop The Great Pyramids Of Giza Prompts Backlash In Egypt

Public indecency has seen a significant rise in recent times and there is no denying the fact. From people masturbating openly on roads and public vehicles to sexual acts being carried out openly, we have seen it all.

And now, Danish photographer, Andreas Hvid, has given controversy a new name, with his bizarre stunt on top of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Taking to his official website, Hvid posted an obscene snap of himself appearing to have sex with a woman atop the Great Pyramid of Giza. The nude photograph which has gone viral, shows the photographer lying in a sexual position with the unidentified woman and has prompted a huge backlash in Egypt.

He also shared a video on YouTube, highlighting their climb to the top of the 4,500-year-old pyramid, during the night time, earlier this year. It is to be noted that climbing the historic structure is a punishable offence and can land you in prison for up to three years.

Adding a note to the video, he wrote, “In late November 2018, a friend and I climbed the Great Pyramid of Giza (a.k.a. Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Cheops).”

“Fearing to be spotted by the many guards, I did not film the several hours of sneaking around at the Giza Plateau, which lead up to the climb.”

According to the Daily Mail, the Egyptian authorities have now ordered an investigation into the authenticity of the image and clip. The case has been referred to them by Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities stating it to be a ‘violation of public morality’.

However, the officials at the iconic place believe that the image is completely fake. Squashing the possibilities of the act, the officials stated that the place is always kept under strict security until it closes at 5 pm.

Ashraf Mohi, director general of the Giza Plateau, also added that the area near the pyramids is too brightly lit in the video, whereas it actually remains extremely dark all the time.

While the display of affection can be considered cute, showing it off openly at public places (that too atop a historically significant monument) in an explicit manner is nowhere near. What do you think?
