Dadar Railway Station Is The Dirtiest In Mumbai, Says Survey And We Are Not Surprised!

It goes without a saying that the Dadar station in Mumbai is one of the busiest stations in the city. However, according to Indian Railways’ cleanliness survey, it also stands as the dirtiest station of all.

The survey which was commissioned by the Railway board under the ‘Swacchh Rail Swacchh Bharat’ mission last year, was a nationwide cleanliness survey of 407 stations across the country. And the results are far from what we envisioned.

According to reports, Dadar’s poor show includes the dropping from the 102nd (last year) to the 330th place among 407 stations.

The Railways release stated,

“The stations were ranked according to their cleanliness in parking, main entry area, main platform and waiting rooms.

The agency visited the stations to gauge their cleanliness and took into account passenger feedback.”

According to sources, Indian railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) outsourced the survey to a third party agency — Quality Council of India (QCI).

However, the good news is, Bandra Terminus has moved up from an overall rank of 292 in 2016 to 31 now. In fact, in another category ranking, it has managed to secure the 15th spot among 75 stations.

Although it is important to note that among the 407 stations that were surveyed for cleanliness, no station from Mumbai featured in the top 10!

Also, Visakhapatnam railway station in Andhra Pradesh stood out and was rated the cleanest station. Meanwhile, The Darbhanga station in Bihar was rated as the dirtiest.
