Dad Takes Over Daughter’s Social Media To Punish Her, Turns Out He’s More Popular Than Her

Parents often come up with weird ideas to teach their kids a lesson, especially when they have teenager kids to handle. And with the world being more social over the internet than in real life, it is even more difficult to tame the kids of the smartphone world. Remember how a Mumbai teenager committed suicide after his parents refused to buy him a costly smartphone to play PUBG? Probably this is why parents go the extra mile to school their kids.

To teach their 15-year-old daughter Madelynn a lesson after she was caught helping boys sneak into a sleepover party, her parents came up with a wacky idea. Tawnya Ford and Larry Sumpter let their daughter choose the punishment she wanted to undergo, reported Metro. “We said you can either go a month without a phone or two weeks without a phone but we have complete control of your social media,” Ford, 43, told Today.

Madelynn probably would have thought that her parents wouldn’t mess up with her ‘personal’ profile that is why she choose the latter option. But the high school student regretted her decision within an hour of choosing the punishment.

Taking control over her Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok account, her dad started posting his selfies on them. He first posted a picture of Madelynn studying and captioned it, “This is Maddi. Maddi got herself grounded. She had a choice of no phone for a month or no phone for 2 weeks and we have FULL control of her social media. She chose 2 weeks. So be on the lookout for some amazing Instagram posts, snap chats and Tiktoks from her parents!”

Larry then posted his selfie on Instagram and captioned it, “felt cute, might delete later.” He even posted his dancing video on TikTok wearing a crop top and jean shorts.

Her Mum Tawnya also told Today, “After the first day, Madelynn was like ‘I changed my mind, I choose the one month’. Larry told her, ‘No, I’m too invested. I have too many ideas. We’re sticking with the two weeks’. He’s loving it. I think he’s gonna make his own TikTok account when this over.”

A commercial construction manager by profession, Larry even mocked his daughter Maddi for taking a wrong decision and posted a picture and wrote, “I wonder what Maddi is doing without her phone.”

But ever since he started posting on Maddi’s profile, her popularity has increased manifold with people wanting to see more of Ford on her profile. People even urged him to open his own social media accounts and continue to entertain them.

Tawnya says that her daughter is used to being embarrassed by her father. He reportedly likes to pick his daughter up dressed as the school mascot with country music blasting. “We’re always down to embarrass our kids,” says Ford.

I am just glad my parents didn’t come up with this crazy idea to punish me.
