With the world going digital and humans getting the power do to anything and everything with just a click, those who don’t have the knowledge and lack the expertise to cope with the digital world suffer.
And among these are the elderly, our parents who have to seek help for doing something as simple as operating a cell phone to bigger things like managing their bank accounts online.
We are being continuously told to not share our OTPs, pin along with other bank details with anyone. However, our parents tell us every minute detail because they trust us. But this blind trust and love proved to be heartbreaking for this old gentleman.
Taking to Twitter, user @wittymaharia shared a devastating story of a man who was cheated on by his own son.
In a thread of tweets, the woman penned that while she was at a private hospital in Gurugram with her mom, she overheard two nurses talking to a senior citizen.
The man had come for treatment and gave his ATM card at the reception for payment. However, he was taken aback when he found out that there was no money in his account. The elderly man was definitive that there was money as it was the account where his pension is credited.

It was during his conversation with the nurses that he recalled that his son’s phone number is linked with his bank account for mobile banking. He had withdrawn all the money without his dad’s knowledge. The old man was shattered.

The man was almost in tears and so were @wittymaharia and her mom on knowing his plight. “How can a son do this to his father?” was the only question they had in mind.

By the time this Twitter user got done with her mom’s procedure and came back to check on the man, he was gone.
“Never have I felt so angry and helpless at the same time while looking at what has become to humanity. Parents make numerous sacrifices for their kids, they don’t deserve such payback,” the furious woman tweeted.

This incident would have been so painful for the dad who gave all that he could to make his son learned enough.

Oh my God. Depressing and disgusting.

Apparently, such incidents have become a common happening these days.
Madam, in Tanjore, an old mother was locked in her own house for long. Both her sons were throwing biscuits thro window. The neighbors unable to bear her moans & screams, called the police, who broke in & rescued her. She was eating floor dirt in hunger. Sad reality!
