After Assam MLA Suman Haripriya claimed ‘gaumutra’ and ‘gobar’ to be cures of coronavirus, and actor Akshay Kumar admitted to drinking cow urine each day for ‘ayurvedic properties’. Twitter is amused by yet another proponent of cow dung.
As per a report in News 18, Vallabhbhai Kathiria, who is the chairman of the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (RKA), unveiled a ‘chip’ named Gausatva Kavach. It is made of cow dung and is manufactured by Rajkot-based Shrijee Gaushala. He also went on to remark, “Cow dung will protect everyone, it is anti-radiation… It is scientifically proven…This is a radiation chip that can be used in mobile phones to reduce radiation. It will be safeguarded against diseases.”

The Aayog, which was initially set up in 2019, comes under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying. It is aimed at the conservation, protection, and development of cows and their progeny. The RKA has now also started a nation-wide campaign to encourage the use of cow dung-based products during festivals.

This doesn't even make sense. Is it a cow dung cover for the mobile chip? #GobarChip https://t.co/cA6VDTStyW

Thank you guys for taking India to harappa & mohanjadaro days, now we can find cowdungs all over walls – #NewIndia 😅— Junaiz Mohammed (@JunaizMohammed) October 13, 2020
It is a ‘moo’t point whether it will work 😜https://t.co/KimAwF3QMc

While cow urine and dung may possibly have some antiseptic properties, its capacity to counter and reduce the radiation which affects humans is unheard of in the scientific world. Huffington Post reports Physicist Vikram Soni stating, “Emissions from the digestive tracts of cows include methane and other greenhouse gases, but cows are not known to produce dung that can absorb radiation.”
He further clarifies, “While cow dung might have insulating properties, which is the reason for it to be applied on walls of houses, and even antiseptic features, it is unlikely to absorb radioactivity.”
