In several parts of India, cow or ‘Gai Mata’, is considered as a goddess and is worshipped. Which is why cow-dung is often used for religious purposes like as an ingredient for fire yajna, besides other medicinal uses. However, with several Indians moving and settling in abroad, cow dung also kind of found its way overseas!
According to a report by India Today, packets of “Cow-Dung cakes” were spotted in a store in Edison, New Jersey. The packet which contained 10 pieces of dung cakes were being sold for $2.99 USD (Rs 214 approx). A picture of the cow-dung cakes was posted by a user on Twitter. Have a look:
My cousin sent me this. Available at a grocery store in Edison, New Jersey. $2.99 only.
My question: Are these imported from desi cows or are they from Yankee cows? pic.twitter.com/uJm8ffoKX2— Samar Halarnkar (@samar11) November 18, 2019
People on the internet are having quite the laugh while spotting some hilarious details about the packaging – like how it’s written: “Not eatable”!
I love how they put no edible.

If someone wants to eat them, they should be allowed to do so.

Religious or not, this is good fuel for conventional Punjabi cooking.

It is completely bizarre how a convenience store in the US, or even India, would sell cow-dung!
