Craving Tea, Covid+ Patient Exits Hospital & Goes To Chaiwala, Customers Run Away

If you are a chai-lover, to what extent are you willing to go for a cup of tea? I have seen people getting restless after not getting tea on time. I have seen my father, a man who is terribly afraid of fire, light the stove to make tea (while shielding himself with a kadai). As an ardent coffee lover, whose cravings are always under control, it surprises me to see chai-lovers going the extra mile for their beloved beverage!

For example, a 73-year-old COVID-19 positive patient casually strolled out of a hospital in search of chai after the staff didn’t offer it to him, reports TOI. The incident took place in Mysuru and the man was admitted in Mysuru Road Hospital.

According to the report, the patient had asked for tea at 5 AM. He waited till 7.30 AM and when the hospital staff didn’t bring him his tea, he decided to go in search of a chaiwala outside. So he pulled out the tubes which were inserted in his arms and wrist, got out of his bed, and exited the hospital premises.

He did find a chaiwala nearby and relished his cup of hot tea. When a customer at the stall noticed the plaster around his hand and asked him what it was for, the patient replied, “I am a COVID-19 patient and I have come here to have tea.”

Other customers were horrified after hearing this. 7 of them immediately dropped their glasses and ran away!

“They did not even pay me. I had to close my stall because of the elderly man,” the chaiwala said.

The tea-seller ran to the hospital and asked authorities to bring the patient back.

On being interrogated later, the patient revealed how he was angry because even after paying 1.5 lakhs, the hospital didn’t offer him some tea!

How irresponsible it is to risk the lives of others just for a cup of tea!
