It is extremely unfortunate when a family member falls severely ill and is admitted to the hospital right before an important family engagement. However, a similar incident did not stop this young couple from getting married who found an alternative solution to the problem.
According to a report by India Today, a couple from Texas got married in a hospital so that the groom’s father, who was admitted there to undergo emergency surgery, wouldn’t be left out.
The couple, Michael and Aaliyah Thompson, had delayed their wedding three times because they lost two of their family members. The last time they planned on getting married, Michael’s father developed sepsis due to diabetes and needed to undergo surgery, reported People.
However, the couple decided to have a “spur-of-the-moment wedding” and planned a ceremony with the hospital staff. They had a small ceremony amidst family and a pastor was also called to officiate the marriage. The doctor and the nurses also brought a “diabetic-friendly cake”, flowers, and grape juice!
Everyone in the room was wearing hospital gowns and the bride and groom put on rings over hospital gloves. The bride’s maid of honour, her grandmother, and the groom’s best man were also present.
“We knew that it was really important that his dad got to be there after losing those two people. No matter where we did it, it was just really important that his dad was there,” said Aaliya.
The groom’s dad kept smiling throughout the ceremony. He was very happy, revealed the couple.
And the most touching wedding of the year goes to…!
