Convict In Kolkata Covers Himself In Faeces & Escapes From Prison By Threatening To Touch

When you hear the word ‘jailbreak’, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Andy Dufresne carving his escape route, which is hidden behind a poster of Rita Hayworth, and then triumphantly standing in a puddle as rain pours down on him? Or Paddington and his friends using the pipes in the jail’s wall to gain freedom?

If that’s the case, then please allow me to make two inferences. One, you have good taste in movies. And two, your concept of a jailbreak is very unrealistic. However, the latter will be completely changed after reading the story of a convict from West Bengal.

According to Mumbai Mirror, a convict from West Bengal called Mohammad Jabbir, escaped from prison by covering himself up in faeces.

Jabbir was arrested by Tapsia police under the Arms Act. However, on 11th February, he had the urge to break free (not in the Freddie Mercury kind of way, but literally). And, according to him, the best way to do so was by covering himself up in shit and threatening to touch the other inmates.

Apparently, the prison does not have a separate facility for toilets and the inmates have to use an area in their cells to do the needful. And Jabbir used this situation to his advantage.

While doing his morning duties, Jabbir sprayed faecal matter all over his body and threatened to touch other inmates inside the lockup. And this made the authorities helpless, thereby allowing the convict to escape.

Jabbir escaped towards the Park Circus area. The cops tried to chase him down but failed. Eventually, he was captured that evening near the Sealdah station and cleaned up by the sweepers.

So, let’s hope that this story doesn’t give any wannabe criminals any ideas, in case they get caught and are imprisoned. In addition to that, let’s wish that the police and prison authorities learn a lesson from Jabbir’s escape and takes precautionary measures so that something like this doesn’t happen again.
