Comedians often use real-life situations to inspire their sketch. However, while roasting someone counts as humour; it appears calling war ‘entertaining’ does not. Comedian Trevor Noah hosts The Daily Show and he recently attempted comic relief at a particularly grave issue.
The South African comedian spoke of the Indo-Pak conflict, taking heavy jibes at each nation’s soldiers. Trevor said he hopes India and Pakistan do not go to war, but it would be the “most entertaining” war if they did.
A video clip from the episode sees him remark how Indians like song-and-dance. He likened Indian soldiers’ war cry to Bollywood songs.
Take a look at the video-

The video soon went viral and earned Noah flak on social media with Twitterrati wondering how on earth such an unstable political climate could be deemed funny. Here are some of the reactions-
Wow this is just racist, offensive shit from Trevor Noah. https://t.co/x2nIJUK6aN

#trevornoah amazing how you think that a war with a terrorist proxy warring Pakistan will be entertaining. For one who understands the Apartheid to this insensitivity, sad bro. Sad. You still are my favorite but this was bad.

Its not funny n not entertainment for sure. Its ok to not be aware of history of the countries across the global….but mocking loss of lives- not done.
Do not tell us to have a thick skin to see this in humour.— Bratpack (@Bratpackbeanie) March 1, 2019

Insensitivity can't be passed off as dark #humour. @Trevornoah this is in bad taste. War isn't funny, and no amount of smart writing can justify this. #TrevorNoah https://t.co/lZkjkfrCYA

Do you agree? Or do you think all’s fair in love and humour?
