Indian teachers have time and again proved their innovative thinking skills by using technology to go beyond conventional teaching methods. For instance, a Karnataka teacher used augmented reality in his online class to teach science to village kids and a Patna teacher took online classes true ‘desi style’. Another teacher’s interesting way of educating school children has been grabbing eyeballs lately.
As per a report in Dainik Jagran, a Chhattisgarh teacher named Ashok Lodhi has earned the nickname of ‘Cinema wale babu’ for his innovative teaching methods in the Koriya district’s ‘mohalla’ classes for school students. With an LED TV and speakers strapped to his bike, he takes classes by educating them through music and cartoons.

Lodhi says, “I don’t bear any extra cost as the TV is from our school and I am anyway supposed to visit places to take classes. The local administration also encouraged me,” Yahoo News reports.
Business World reports that Dr. Alok Shukla, who is the principal secretary of the School Education Department in Chhattisgarh, praised Lodhi’s initiative saying that such innovative techniques saying, “I want to congratulate district administration for their efforts at ensuring seamless education in the district. Such innovations are rare to find in even big cities.”
And the students of the ‘Cinema Wale Babu’ classes definitely seem to enjoy and appreciate all his classes. A student was quoted as saying, “It’s fun. We watch cartoons and study at the same time.”
Not only his own students but fellow teachers and other people in the neighborhood area have also heaped praises on Lodhi’s initiative. Dinesh Nayak, who is a primary school teacher at Sara village panchayat said, “This is a great effort. Students learn through video mediums easily. Our students become excited when they are informed about ‘Cinema wale babu’s’ arrival.”
